Through the Fog!
How Does Deaf blindness Impact the Musical Journey?
GCU Music Department and the Usher Syndrome Society present Through the Fog! This event hosts an early meet and greet, live musical performance, and storytelling series called Conversations With USH. The discussions will be guided by Rebecca Alexander, an award-winning author, psychotherapist, extreme athlete, and disability advocate who is living with the rare disease, Usher syndrome (USH) — the most common genetic cause of combined deaf blindness.
Rebecca will explore the musical experience with GCU alumnus, Brenden Sorensen, an accomplished composer and pianist who is progressively losing both his vision and hearing due to Usher syndrome. Watch and listen as music breaks physical barriers and transcends beyond what you may think is possible.
