PURPOSE at Grand Canyon University

GCU invites you to explore and embrace your Christian faith with a series of virtual PURPOSE events! Connect with other future Lopes and see how we incorporate the GCU mission and Christian heritage into everything we do, from weekly Chapel services, post Chapel dialogues, small group discussions to intimate worship arts performances.


Listen to Chapel speakers who are leaders of local congregations in the GCU community, watch live musical performances and pray with us in this powerful setting, all from home!

PURPOSE Post-Chapel Discussion

GCU is hosting a live discussion on Zoom after Chapel to facilitate thought-provoking conversation about that week’s message. Listen to different perspectives and interpretations, share your thoughts and connect with others all at once. Music genre varies and can range from an acoustic performance at GCU Ballpark to an electric guitar solo in our very own recording studio. PURPOSE Worship Nights take place before our PURPOSE Small Group sessions. Parents and Students: Explore GCU From Anywhere

To better serve the needs of prospective students and their families, GCU is offering virtual program preview information sessions. This comprehensive look at one of our nine colleges, or club sports program, gives you the chance to learn about academic and career paths, tour our beautiful campus and check out state-of-the-art facilities. You will also hear from college leadership, faculty and even current students! Sessions are offered at 4 pm AZ Time and programs rotate daily.

Teachers: Prepare for the Future  (Min. 5 students)

GCU is offering free virtual program preview information sessions for your high school or community college students on an appointment basis. This innovative experience allows students in both traditional and distance learning classroom settings to discover potential career paths and explore GCU from anywhere.

Each 40-minute event offers the opportunity to hear from college leadership, learn about programs of study, state-of-the-art facilities and more. You will also hear from a faculty roundtable and student panel for an inside look into life at GCU.

Virtual High School Canyon Challenge at GCU

March 1 - March 19

GCU invites all business-minded high school students to participate in the GCU Canyon
Challenge pitch competition! Form a team and develop a three-minute business pitch of your
choice based on one of the following topics:

  • Agriculture

  • Energy

  • Finance

  • Government

  • Health

  • Housing

  • Transportation

Submission Guidelines

  1. Develop your idea and perfect your presentation.

  2. Digitally record your presentation and upload to YouTube (visibility must be set to "public” and be audible for the viewer).

  3. Email your presentation link to [email protected] with your team name and high school as the subject line to officially submit your pitch.

Each team member MUST register for the event on their own in order for a team pitch to be considered.
The Colangelo College of Business (CCOB) IDEA Club leadership will review all entries and select
the top four finalists. On March 19 at 4 pm, CCOB will host the Canyon Challenge pitch event for start-up businesses developed by GCU students. After the GCU pitches, each of the four high school finalists will have their pitch shown live to the viewers. At the end, our Colangelo College of Business dean, Dr. Randy Gibb and the Chair of our Entrepreneurial Program, Tim Kelley, will select the first- and second-place winners! First-and second-place team members will receive a custom Canyon Challenge award.

Dates to Remember:

  • Competition starts on March 1

  • The last day to submit your team pitch is March 15

  • Tune into the Canyon Challenge live stream on March 19 at 4 pm AZ Time to see if your pitch
    is a finalist and ultimately the winner!

GCU Virtual Canyon Crime Challenge

March 1 - March 3

The Grand Canyon University Justice Studies department is excited to invite you to the Canyon
Crime Challenge! This three-day virtual crime solving extravaganza implores students to use critical thinking, creativity and analytical skills to solve a crime. Compete against others as an individual or a team of up to four people.

Created by GCU faculty, the event celebrates National Criminal Justice Month and helps students learn more about criminal justice, law enforcement, the FBI and more. Winners will be sent a mystery swag bag and a signed certificate from the Justice Studies department chair and faculty.
