Junior Songwriter Showcase

The Songwriter Showcase is hosted by the Grand Canyon University Worship Arts program each semester to determine which songs will be included on the Canyon Worship Albums.

The event fosters a spirit of creativity and allows students to showcase their talents with God and community being at the forefront of music. The Junior Songwriter Showcase extends this spirit into the high school and community college levels.

Until Jan. 3, GCU will be accepting submissions from individual students, youth worship teams and school worship teams within three different categories:

  • Individuals
  • Duos and small teams

Write and perform your best faith-based song for the opportunity to fly out to GCU and record the song in the GCU recording studio!*

Deadline: Sunday, Jan. 3 at noon AZ Time
Students will submit their project by emailing [email protected] before the deadline.

Winners will be announced at GCU’s Virtual Celebration Event on Jan. 15.

Junior Songwriter Showcase Webinar Series

This webinar series focuses on songwriting, showcase rules/guidelines and a viewing of our songwriter showcase. The series includes interviews from Worship Arts faculty, alumni and students taking place on Nov. 13, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 respectively.

One-on-One Songwriting Sessions

Hone your songwriting skills with a one-on-one training session! These sessions include a 30-minute zoom call with a current Theology student who can provide feedback and tips on how to take your original song to the next level! We offer a beginner course and an experienced course. Students are advised to choose the level that best gauges their experience with songwriting. Both sessions are limited to the first 20 students that register and will take place from Dec. 7 – 11.

Webinars and one-on-one session signups are completed via the confirmation email once you register for the Junior Songwriter Showcase.
