Join us for a captivating evening as we delve into this timeless masterpiece composed by the legendary George Frederic Handel in 1741. This English-language oratorio, featuring text crafted from the King James Bible and the Coverdale Psalter by Charles Jennens, first graced the stage in Dublin on April 13, 1742, before making its triumphant debut in London. Although initially met with modest acclaim, the oratorio has since become one of the most renowned and frequently performed choral works.

Handel’s transition from Italian opera to English oratorio marked a significant shift in his career, with Messiah being the sixth in this genre. Our GCU concert event will not only explore the historical context and structure of this extraordinary composition, it will also present it in all its glory, demonstrating its enduring impact on music history.
