“Ring Round the Moon” is a humorous, Cinderella-themed theatrical display of misguided love affairs and sly pursuits between high society and the lower class. Adapted by Christopher Fry, “Ring Round the Moon” radiates with fairy tale charm mixed with wry wit while unfolding as a comedic love story in the 1920s.
Ethington Theatre is thrilled to light up the stage by performing this revival of Jean Anouilh’s L’Invitation au Château, known by Fry as “A Charade with Music.”
This parody surrounds a heartless twin brother’s plot to end his kind-hearted brother’s engagement (that’s doomed to disaster anyway). The malevolent brother, Hugo, believes his brother, Frederic, is making a huge mistake by marrying a deceitful heiress (who is actually in love with Hugo). Hugo sees a ball at a beautiful French chateau as his opportunity to invite an irresistible ballet dancer who’s hired to captivate Frederic and steer him away from his fiancée. To complicate matters even more, the ballerina falls for Hugo instead. A series of uproarious events disentangle full tender affection, comical cynicism and romantic plight.
“Ring Round the Moon” dazzles its way to a happily ever after ending, delivering entertainment that will keep you laughing. This is a romantic comedy come to life on stage that you, your family and friends won’t want to miss. Registration will open soon!
