A Spiritual Singalong Takes Stage

“Godspell” takes you on a musical adventure full of parables from “The Gospel According to Matthew.” Jesus recruits a jovial troupe of followers who perform these parables to teach lessons, from being a good Samaritan and following the golden rule to glorifying God. Parables pay tribute to lyrics from traditional hymns, while the group also partakes in games, tomfoolery, and pantomime. Among a collection of eclectic songs ranging in style, “Day by Day,” from the original cast album, is known as an international hit. The story eventually takes a turn when Judas betrays Jesus, ending with The Last Supper and Jesus’ haunting Crucifixion. Above all, “Godspell” shares Jesus’ message of friendship, loyalty, tolerance, and love.

“Godspell” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials also supplied by MTI, 423 West 55th Street, New York, NY 10019 | Tel.: (212) 541-4684 Fax: (212) 397-4684 www.MTIShows.com
